Apple has released a beta version of iOS, adding advanced anti-theft protection to the operating system. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to journalists, earlier attackers could change passwords on an Apple smartphone, having got the device at their disposal. With the Stolen Device Protection (SDP) feature, the iPhone will no longer allow unlocking the device, as well as resetting and changing passwords in accounts.
With the SDP feature activated, which appeared in the first beta of iOS 17.3, the smartphone will not accept a passcode to unlock if the device is far away from the user’s home or other secure locations. The device will check its location using the Locator service. In this case, the iPhone will require the user to unlock the device using Face ID or Touch ID.
