Famous American supermodel, actress, singer and businesswoman Beverly Johnson has revealed that she experienced anorexia and drug addiction at the beginning of her career. An interview with the 71-year-old star was published by Page Six.
Johnson was the first black model on the cover of Vogue, and her career peaked in the 1970s and 1980s. Back then, the model recalls, she used cocaine to stave off hunger and believed it wasn’t addictive. “I was eating two eggs and a bowl of brown rice a week. I would start shaking in the taxi and sometimes I would ask to slow down to buy myself a packet of M&M’s,” she said.
